The purpose
of this Code of Conduct is to establish a set of guidelines which
outline the responsibilities and behaviour of swimmers, coaches and
parents/guardians of swimmers who are members of Horwich Leisure Centre
Amateur Swimming Club. This is not intended to be all-encompassing but
rather a set of guidelines. It is a
condition of membership of Horwich Leisure Centre ASC that this Code of Conduct is
adhered to.
GENERAL

All members and parents/guardians should be respectful and
courteous to coaches, teachers, Club Officials and other members at
all times.

Any form of bullying will not be tolerated.

All members and parents/guardians should behave without
discrimination to other individuals for any reason.
SWIMMERS'
CONDUCT
All swimmers
are expected to:

Be on time and
properly equipped for training sessions

Train and compete
to the best of your ability
-
Show respect to
teachers, coaches and officials
-
Be willing to
represent the Club when selected for a team
-
Not use abusive
language nor act in an aggressive manner
When representing
Horwich at galas and competitions the Club's reputation depends upon the
way swimmers behave. This Code of Conduct applies at all times when
participating in such events.
When representing
Horwich at galas swimmers are expected to:

Be respectful at all
times to other teams, their swimmers and all officials

Accept the coaches'
team and event selections

Support and
encourage other Horwich swimmers

Accept
defeat with grace and behave in a sporting manner at all times

Behave in a sporting
manner at all times

Remain on poolside
until the gala has finished and leave together as a team
COACHES' AND TEACHERS' CONDUCT
PARENTS' AND
GUARDIANS' CONDUCT
All parents/guardians are expected to:

Encourage your child to learn the rules and participate within them

Discourage challenging/arguing with officials
-
Publicly
accept officials' judgements
-
Help
your child to recognise good sportsmanship and to applaud the good
performances of all

Never
force your child to take part in sport
-
Use
correct and proper language at all times
-
Never
punish or belittle a child for poor performance or making mistakes
-
Support
your child's involvement and help them to enjoy their sport
-
Confine
discussions with your child to encouragement
-
Never go on
poolsideto discuss matters with either coaches or swimmers. If a
parent would like to speak with a coach they should arrange a
meeting through a member of the Committee
-
Refrain from
coaching your child from the balcony
